LINs (Loan Identification Numbers)

In 1993, Thomson Reuters LPC was chosen as the Loan Identification Numbers (LINs) Registration Authority by the American National Standards Institute. LINs are one of the key features of the American National Standard Asset Sales X9.34-1993. LIN is the trademark for a numbering system that establishes a unique loan number for sellers, buyers, administrative agents and management information vendors involved in the sale of syndicated loans.

The LIN is a term that represents a nine-character deal identification number and a separate 13-character facility identification number. The LIN numbering system provides all parties involved in the transaction of syndicated loans with a unique reference number for each deal and facility. The single numbering system is designed to:

Getting Started:

  1. Begin by clicking on LoanConnector under Thomson Reuters LPC Premium Services on the LoanInvestor Homepage. This will launch a new window displaying LoanConnector's Gold Sheets Real-Time module.
  2. In the menu on the top of the screen you will notice a link to LINs. Click on the link to go to the LINs page.

To Search for a LIN:

  1. Enter part or the whole of the issuer name (i.e., "uni" for United Artist Theatre Circuit or enter the LIN, if you have the number readily available, to find the issuer name, agent bank or type of deal (i.e. M0003K010RC01).
  2. Click on SEARCH and a list of all the companies' names beginning with "uni" will appear on the left side of the screen.
  3. Click on the name of the company (i.e., United Artist Theater Circuit) or the LIN that you are looking for.
  4. Information (LIN, Tranche, Date and the name of Agent Bank) for the deal will appear on the right of the screen.

To Submit a Request for a LIN:

  1. Click on the SUBMIT NEW DEAL button on the top right of the screen.
  2. A page will appear on which you will be required to fill out details: issuer name, deal active date, agent bank, deal amount($), category (Par/Distressed/European/Latin American), amount and maturity date.
  3. Click on SEND THE DEAL TO Thomson Reuters LPC button to send the information to Thomson Reuters LPC.
  4. You will receive a confirmation once your deal has been submitted.
